Solicitor - Commercial Litigation
THE ROLE & TEAM
We’re looking for a Solicitor (0–3 years PQE) to join our Commercial Litigation team, with a preference for someone based in Leeds, Liverpool or Manchester. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive, down-to-earth team where you’ll gain exposure to high-quality work from day one and develop your career in the right way.
You’ll be joining a collaborative team that works across our offices, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to work with colleagues in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, gaining exposure to a broad range of clients and matters.
This is very much a development-focused role. Initially, you’ll be supported as you build your technical capability and confidence, working closely with experienced lawyers across a range of disputes. As your experience grows, you’ll be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to take on your own matters.
The team handles a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including:
Contractual disputes
Shareholder and company disputes
Breach of warranty claims
Professional negligence
Employment-related disputes
High Court litigation
The work is varied but typically involves complex, often high-value disputes rather than volume-based litigation, giving you the opportunity to develop a strong, well-rounded commercial disputes skillset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting on a broad range of commercial litigation matters
Assisting with pre-action work across a variety of disputes
Drafting and reviewing correspondence, pleadings and witness statements (depending on experience)
Managing disclosure processes, including extended disclosure using modern platforms and tools
Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and other third parties
Supporting with mediation preparation and attendance where appropriate
Contributing to case strategy and ongoing matter progression
As you develop, you’ll begin to take more ownership of matters and work more autonomously, with continued support from the wider team.
ABOUT YOU
We’re open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, provided you bring the right attitude and approach.
You’ll likely have:
Qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales
Up to 3 years’ PQE in litigation
Exposure to commercial litigation, ideally including contractual disputes, shareholder matters or High Court work (or exposure to the Business & Property Courts)
For those with more experience (2–3 PQE), we’d also expect:
Exposure to High Court litigation
Experience of trial preparation and/or mediation processes
Experience assisting with or drafting pleadings and witness statements
A solid understanding of the CPR and litigation lifecycle
For those at NQ level, we’re particularly interested in candidates who have gained strong foundational exposure to commercial disputes, even if in a supporting capacity.
Just as importantly, you’ll:
Be genuinely motivated to learn and progress
Be proactive and keen to get involved in a wide range of work
Be comfortable working flexibly across teams and locations
Take a collaborative, no‑ego approach to your work
Be reliable, accountable and someone the team can depend on
We’re particularly keen to hear from people who value trust, teamwork and continuous development, and who want to build a long-term career with us.
